This website has been launched in 2007 by MarkTwain White to further the communication between, and development of, the sailing community in Second Life. Second Life is a virtual world located at www.secondlife.com .
While it is not intended to replace any of the SL Sailing Forums, it does provide an additional means of communicating. Between the website features (which are designed to make more information more easily accessible) and the various existing forums, the SL sailing community now has an increased level of community service befitting its size and excellence in Second Life.
Over the the past three and a half years COM has grown to an average of 5000 visits a month with an average of 30,000 page views per month (Google Analytics).
COM has had three editors over the course of its history, MarkTwain White, Jane Fossett and its current editor, and now owner, Bea Woodget (MarkTwain White has sold SLSailing.Com to Bea Woodget in March 2011). It is rare for a hobby web site to boast such experienced editors as COM has had.
In March 2011, we decided to turn the site into a network of blogs, to provide more tools, more space to SL Sailors, and to better reflect the diversity of our community. The site aims to bring together all people of goodwill involved in the development of this community.
